01/11 ~ In the early evening West Douglas County & South Metro Firefighters were alerted to a reported house fire at Alpine Drive &  Highway 67.  After an extended response time to the very rural mountain area, crews found a two story log home with nothing showing.  After an investigation was completed, a smoldering fire was found in the ceiling extending upward.  The bulk of the fire had been knocked by the homeowner prior to arrival of firefighters.  A supply line was stretched up the long, icy driveway where one 4x4 Engine and Battalion Chief were able to access.  Crews were able to overhaul the remaining hot spots with very little water and companies began picking up within the hour.  Eric Hurst Photos
