Fatal Denver High Rise Fire

osc3rod.JPG

05/31 ~ Around 2045 Denver Firefighters were called to 2626 Osceola Street for a reported structure fire.  Chief 6 & 12's a pair arrived to find light smoke conditions showing from a high rise, elderly apartment building.  Companies jumped into action and ascended to the 10th floor where smoke conditions were the worst.  Firefighters assisted several residents on the fire floor by giving them their masks and evacuating them down.  One apartment was found with heavy fire and smoke conditions and quickly attacked, the primary search was positive for one occupant who was removed in full arrest.  Crews removed the patient from the fire apartment and immediately began resuscitation efforts, which sadly weren't successful.  Several other residents were transported by Denver Paramedics for smoke inhalation.  The fire was held to one unit with no extension, extensive ventilation was needed and most residents were allowed to return to their units.  Rod Blakney Photo
