Air Tanker 44 Crash

06/26 ~ In the afternoon North Metro Firefighters were called to the Rocky Mountain Airport for an aircraft crash. Air Tanker 44 (based in Misoula Montana) had been moved up to Colorado and working the wildland fires in Larimer County. After making a drop and returning to the airport to reload, the aircraft started to have hydraulic problems. Upon landing the plane was unable to break, driving off the runway, through a fence and landing hard on 120th Avenue. A small engine fire resulted from the crash which was quickly extinguished, the flight crew was not injured. Rick Luebke Photo
